14 Feb The number of spouses older than 60 years reaches in 2023 its highest value in the Canary Islands

La edad media de los matrimonios en Canarias es cada vez más alta. En el caso de los hombres este
valor se sitúa en 42,9 years old, mientras que las mujeres que se casaron en 2023 tenía una media de edad
de 39,9 years old.

Menos matrimonios que en 2022

En 2023 hubo en Canarias 7.370 marriages. Esto supone un descenso del 4,8 percent with respect
al dato de 2022. En el caso de matrimonios entre personas de distinto sexo, la disminución fue del
5,5 por ciento. Los matrimonios entre personas del mismo sexo aumentaron un 6,7%. En 2023 was 480

En cuanto a la manera de formalizar los matrimonios entre personas de distinto sexo, el 86,2 por
ciento se celebró de forma exclusiva mediante una ceremonia civil. Hace una década, en 2013, casi la
cuarta parte de los matrimonios contaban con una ceremonia religiosa.

Una cuarta parte de las personas que se casaron en 2023 en Canarias habían formado con anterioridad
otro matrimonio. El 25,5 por ciento de los hombres y el 23,1 por ciento de las mujeres se casaron en
2023 tras un proceso de divorcio, de separación, o bien tras enviudar.
