10 Dec El número de altas en los hospitales canarios aumentó un 2,3% en 2013

respecto al año anterior. Por provincias, en Santa Cruz de Tenerife se produjeron 9.500 altas por
100.000 inhabitants in front of the 7.608 from the province of Las Palmas. Hospitalizations for
diseases of the circulatory system recorded the highest number of discharges (13,2%). Next
diseases of the digestive system were located (12,9%), pregnancy complications, birth and
puerperium (10,6%), diseases of the respiratory system (10,1%) and injuries and
poisonings (9,3%).
The average age of hospital discharges was 51,6 years old (53,1 in men and 50,2 en las

for pregnancy episodes, childbirth and puerperium, The average age of women would be 54,9
years old.
The people of 85 and more years represented the 5,7% of the total hospital discharges in 2013, of the

The average length of stay per hospital discharge was 7,2 days, in front of 7,3 of the 2012. By groups of
diseases, longer stays (without considering mental illness)

circulatory system (8,9 days).
El 91,5% of discharges occurred as a result of cure or improvement, el 4,4% due to death,
