30 Nov Retail sales in the Canary Islands increased in October 2022 a 7,2% over the same month of 2021
By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias The Canary Islands is the autonomous community where the greatest positive variation occurs (7,2%), followed by
Baleares (7,1%) and Madrid (3,4%). On the other side, The largest negative variations occurred in
Melilla (-4,7%), Castile – La Mancha (-3,2%) and Asturias (-2,0%). Atendiendo a la evolución de las
ventas por grupos, these rose in the Canary Islands a 2,2% en alimentación y un 12,6% en el resto.
Por su parte, employment in Canarian retail trade has increased by 4,3% in the last twelve
meses, while at the national level it has increased 1,5%. En este concepto, Canarias está posicionada
in second position among the group of autonomous communities and cities. The greatest rise has been
given in the Balearic Islands (7,4%), while the lowest variation rates have occurred in Asturias
(-1,6%), Aragon (-0,3%) and Murcia (-0,1%).
