27 Jul Retail sales in the Canary Islands increased in June 2023 a 7,2% over the same month of 2022
By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias The Canary Islands are in fourth position in the ranking of variations of this index (6,1%), siendo
superada por Baleares (14,4%), Madrid (11,7%) y Cataluña (8,4%). On the other side, the minors
variations occurred in Castilla y León (0,9%), Estremadura (1,8%) and Murcia (2,4%). Attending
to the evolution of sales by groups in the Canary Islands, subieron un 2,0% en alimentación y un 18,0% en
the rest.
Por su parte, employment in Canarian retail trade has increased by 2,8% in the last twelve
meses, while at the national level it has increased 2,0%. En este concepto, Canarias está posicionada
in fourth position among the group of autonomous communities and cities, surpassed by the
Comunidad Valenciana (3,8%), Baleares (3,6%) y Cataluña (3,4%), while the lower rates of
variation has occurred in Asturias (-1,3%), Ceuta (-0,8%) and Navarre (-0,4%).
