09 Apr The number of people receiving a non-contributory pension decreases but the average amount they receive increases

By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias Las pensiones no contributivas son aquellas que reciben las personas que carecen de recursos
suficientes para subsistir y que no hayan cotizado nunca a la Seguridad Social o no lo hayan hecho
el tiempo suficiente para optar a las prestaciones contributivas.

Este tipo de pensiones pueden ser de invalidez o de jubilación. En el primer caso había en Canarias
en febrero un total de 16.089 personas que cobraban esta prestación, lo que supone un 3,8% less than
hace un año. El importe medio es de 662,5 euros al mes (a 11,3% more than in February 2025).

En cuanto a las pensiones no contributivas de jubilación, el número de personas beneficiarias es de
25.587 (un incremento del 0,8%), mientras que su importe medio fue de 618,89 euros al mes (a 9,1%
rather than 2025).

El importe total para hacer frente a estas pensiones se eleva hasta los 26,49 millones de euros al
mes, a 8,8 por ciento más que en febrero de 2025.

han tenido experiencia laboral previa. In February of this year, el 67,1 por ciento de las personas
que cumplían estos requisitos cobraba esta prestación. Esto es lo que se conoce como tasa de
cobertura y es más alta que en febrero de 2025 (64,3%).
