29 May Las ventas al por menor en Canarias aumentaron un 5,2% en abril de 2024 con respecto al mismo mes de 2023
By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias The Canary Islands are in third position in the ranking of variations of this index (5,2%),
being surpassed only by Andalusia (5,7%) and Basque Country (5,4%). On the other side, the minors
variations occurred in the Balearic Islands (-1,3%), Castile and León (0,3%) and Extremadura (0,5%).
Taking into account the evolution of sales by groups in the Canary Islands, éstas subieron un 3,1% en
alimentación y un 9,2% en el resto.
Por su parte, employment in Canarian retail trade has increased by 2,0% in the last twelve
meses, while at the national level it has increased 1,8%. En este concepto, Canarias está posicionada
in third position among the group of autonomous communities and cities, surpassed by Madrid
(5,0%) and Andalusia (3,4%), while the lowest variation rates have occurred in Melilla
(-2,4%), Rioja (-1,3%) and Aragon (-0,8%).
