By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias Canarias se sitúa en cuarta posición dentro del ranking de variaciones de este índice (4,7%). Las
Greater variations occurred in the Balearic Islands (8,8%), Madrid (5,9%) and the Valencian Community
(5,8%). On the other side, las menores variaciones se produjeron en Galicia (1,8%), Navarra (1,9%) and
Castile and León (1,9%). Taking into account the evolution of sales by groups in the Canary Islands, subieron un
1,0% en alimentación y un 13,8% en el resto.

Por su parte, employment in Canarian retail trade has increased by 2,7% in the last twelve
meses, while at the national level it has increased 1,5%. En este concepto, Canarias está posicionada
in third position among the group of autonomous communities and cities, superada por Baleares
(3,2%) and the Valencian Community (2,9%), while the lowest rates of variation have occurred in
Rioja (-2,0%), Ceuta (-1,5%), and Asturias (-0,4%).
