Greater variations occurred in the Balearic Islands (9,9%), Andalusia (6,8%) y Cantabria (6,6%). For another
side, the smallest variations occurred in Melilla (1,8%), Navarra (2,1%) and Castilla y León
(2,7%). Taking into account the evolution of sales by groups in the Canary Islands, these went up a 1,5% en
alimentación y un 14,7% en el resto.

Por su parte, employment in Canarian retail trade has increased by 2,4% in the last twelve
meses, while at the national level it has increased 2,0%. En este concepto, Canarias está posicionada
in fourth position among the group of autonomous communities and cities, superada por Baleares
(4,1%), Madrid (3,8%) and the Valencian Community (2,7%), while the lowest rates of variation
have occurred in La Rioja (-2,5%), Ceuta (-1,9%), and Basque Country (-0,4%).
