By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias The Consumer Confidence Index measures the level of optimism about the current situation and the
future expectations of citizens in the Canary Islands. Respondents must evaluate each
situation as equal, better or worse and with these data an index is calculated that takes a value between 0 and
200. If the index is above 100 It is understood that there are more favorable opinions than
desfavorables.
Although both components of the index fell. The Current Situation Index did so in less than a
point while the Expectations Index fell 4,4 puntos. In this way, the index of
Current Situation is located in 69,2 puntos, while the Expectations Index is 77,9 puntos.
The Consumer Confidence Index fell in all the islands except Tenerife, where he climbed some
2 puntos. The greatest decreases occurred in Fuerteventura (12 puntos menos) y Lanzarote (7,5
puntos). Even with this decline, The highest values of this index occur in these two islands., siendo
the only two islands in which the 80 puntos.
