By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias Canarias se sitúa en séptima posición dentro del ranking de variaciones de este índice (6,2%). Las
mayores variaciones se produjeron en la Comunidad Valenciana (9,1%), Baleares (8,8%) y Andalucía
(7,3%). On the other side, the smallest variations occurred in Melilla (-0,8%), Murcia (1,1%) and
Castilla y León (1,2%). Taking into account the evolution of sales by groups in the Canary Islands, subieron un
1,2% en alimentación y un 16,6% en el resto.

Por su parte, employment in Canarian retail trade has increased by 2,6% in the last twelve
meses, while at the national level it has increased 1,8%. En este concepto, Canarias está posicionada
en la tercera posición entre el conjunto de comunidades y ciudades autónomas, superada por Baleares
(4,7%) and the Valencian Community (3,7%), mientras que las menores tasas de variación se han dado en
La Rioja (-1,5%), Ceuta (-1,5%), y Melilla (-0,9%).
