El Consejo de Ministros ha aprobado el Real Decreto (RD) por el que se modifican determinados preceptos de los Estatutos del Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO) con el objetivo de introducir mejoras de Gobierno corporativo en su funcionamiento. Esta norma desarrolla lo previsto en la Ley de Régimen Jurídico del Sector Público de octubre pasado en la que se dio entrada por primera vez a cuatro consejeros independientes en la agencia financiera del Estado. Ahora se explicitan en norma reglamentaria los criterios objetivos de selección como son el prestigio y la capacitación, las incompatibilidades y el mandato por tres años prorrogable a otros tres por una sola vez. Los consejeros independientes tendrán doble voto cuando se trate de asuntos propios del negocio del financiero y serán, therefore, mayoría en el consejo.
