22 Sea Births in the Canary Islands continue to decrease: 12.219 en 2022, a 4% less than the previous year

a 7% and 5,5% less, respectivamente. Por el contrario, the number of births increases in El
Hierro, con un 2,8%, and in La Palma, con un 1%.

In relation to the age of the parents, The average age of the mothers was 32 years and
the parents, en 35,8. En el 69% of births, the mother has 30 or more years, and in the 37% has
35 or more years.

El 96% of births occur in single-baby births and in the 84% of births
total births are considered uncomplicated. On the other side, the percentage of cesarean sections, a
22%, decreased with respect to 2021 in the Canary Islands. The highest percentage of cesarean sections was recorded in the
El Hierro island, con un 45%, and the smallest in Gran Canaria, con un 19%.
