27 Nov The municipalities of Santa Brígida and El Rosario had the highest levels of average annual net income per inhabitant of the Canary Islands in the year 2023
By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias En 2023 Garafía, in La Palma, y el Tanque, in Tenerife, tuvieron los valores más bajos del
archipiélago en renta neta anual media por habitante con 10.321 and 10.932 euros per person
respectivamente. En el año 2022 Garafía también fue el municipio con renta más baja, con 8.512 euros
por persona.
These figures are published in the household income distribution atlas that provides data
annual by municipalities and sections of the Canary Islands on income, inequality and percentage indicators
of the population with income per unit of consumption below or above certain income thresholds

Another indicator obtained in this publication is the Gini index, which is used to study
economic inequality based on the measurement of the concentration of income in many or few
people. The value of the Gini Index is 0 in situations of maximum equity and 100 in situations of
maximum inequality.
The highest values of the Gini Index in the year 2023 se encontraron en Garafía, in La Palma, con
36,4 y en Santa Brígida, en Gran Canaria, con 35,4 y los menores en Tinajo, en Lanzarote, e Ingenio,
en Gran Canaria, con 25,5 and 25,9 respectivamente.
