followed by Andalusia (7,1%), the Basque Country (6,9%), Castile – La Mancha (5.8%) and La Rioja (5,8%). Por
other side, The smallest variations occurred in Extremadura (3,4%). Melilla (3,6%) and Castile and
León (3,7%). Taking into account the evolution of sales by groups in the Canary Islands, these went up a 5,7%
en alimentación y un 10,8% en el resto.

Por su parte, employment in Canarian retail trade has increased by 4,1% in the last twelve
meses, while at the national level it has increased 1,8%. En este concepto, Canarias (4,1%) this
positioned in the first position among the group of autonomous communities and cities, equalized
with Balearic Islands (4,1%) and followed by Madrid (3,4%), Andalusia (3,2%) and Navarre (2,5%), while the
lower rates of variation have occurred in Ceuta (-1,4%), Estremadura (-0,6%) and Melilla (-0,5%).
