By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias The Canary Islands are in first position within the ranking of variations of this index (4,3%),
seguida por Aragón (3,0%), Navarra (2,5%) y Castilla – La Mancha (2,3%). On the other side, the minors
variations occurred in Madrid (-4,6%), Baleares (-3,3%) and Galicia (-1,1%). Taking into account the
evolution of sales by groups in the Canary Islands, éstas subieron un 2,0% en alimentación y un 8,4% en
the rest.

Por su parte, employment in Canarian retail trade has increased by 2,4% in the last twelve
meses, while at the national level it has increased 1,7%. En este concepto, Canarias está posicionada
in third position among the group of autonomous communities and cities, surpassed by Madrid
(5,6%) and Andalusia (3,2%), mientras que las menores tasas de variación se han dado en Ceuta (-1,6%),
Melilla (-1,4%) y Extremadura (-1,1%).
