being only surpassed by the Basque Country (3,6%), equal with the Valencian Community (3,3%) and followed
by Cantabria (2,9%), Baleares (2,9%) and Melilla (2,9%). On the other side, the slightest variations
produced in Asturias (-1,0%), Estremadura (-0,9%) and Galicia (-0,1%). Taking into account the evolution of
sales by groups in the Canary Islands, these went up a 3,4% en alimentación y un 4,2% en el resto.

Por su parte, employment in Canarian retail trade has increased by 4,5% in the last twelve
meses, while at the national level it has increased 1,7%. En este concepto, Canarias (4,5%) this
