By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias The Canary Islands are in fourth position in the ranking of variations of this index (6,1%), siendo
superada por Baleares (15,2%), Madrid (10,1%) y Cataluña (7,6%). On the other side, the minors
variaciones se produjeron en Castilla y León (0,3%), Murcia (1,6%) and Navarre (1,9%). Taking into account the
evolution of sales by groups in the Canary Islands, subieron un 2,9% en alimentación y un 17,5% en el
rest.

Por su parte, employment in Canarian retail trade has increased by 3,7% in the last twelve
meses, while at the national level it has increased 1,6%. En este concepto, Canarias está posicionada
in second position among the group of autonomous communities and cities, superada por Baleares
(5,7%) and followed by the Valencian Community (3,6%), while the lowest rates of variation are
