10 Sea Retail sales in the Canary Islands increased in January 2023 a 13,3% over the same month of 2022

(13,3%), seguida por Baleares (12,2%) and the Valencian Community (9,7%). On the other side, the minors
variations occurred in Murcia (1,2%), Navarra (2,1%) y Castilla – La Mancha (3,5%). Attending
to the evolution of sales by groups, these rose in the Canary Islands a 5,8% en alimentación y un
24,9% en el resto.

Por su parte, employment in Canarian retail trade has increased by 3,0% in the last twelve
meses, while at the national level it has increased 0,8%. En este concepto, Canarias está posicionada
in the first position among the group of autonomous communities and cities, equaled with
Estremadura (3,0%) and followed by the Balearic Islands (2,8%) y Castilla – La Mancha (2,7%), while the
lower rates of variation have occurred in Asturias (-3,3%), Murcia (-0,8%), Ceuta (-0,8%) and Aragon
(-0,8%).
