By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias Canarias se sitúa en decimotercera posición dentro del ranking de variaciones de este índice (3,5%).
Las mayores variaciones se produjeron en Baleares (5,6%), Cataluña (5,0%) and Andalusia (4,3%). Por
other side, las menores variaciones se produjeron en Galicia (1,5%), Estremadura (1,6%) y Madrid
(1,7%). Taking into account the evolution of sales by groups in the Canary Islands, these went up a 4,0% en
alimentación y un 9,0% en el resto.

Por su parte, employment in Canarian retail trade has increased by 2,7% in the last twelve
meses, while at the national level it has increased 1,8%. En este concepto, Canarias está posicionada
in fourth position among the group of autonomous communities and cities, superada por Madrid
(3,8%), Aragon (3,0%) y Baleares (2,8%), while the lowest rates of variation have occurred in
Estremadura (-0,2%), Ceuta (0,1%) and La Rioja (0,1%).
