06 May The registered unemployment figure in the Canary Islands is 167.468 people
By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias By sex and with respect to March 2024, Unemployment rose for both men and women, being the
variation rate around 1,5% in both cases. By age groups, unemployment figures
decreased by around 6% in minors 25 years old, but they rose in the rest of the groups.
Registered unemployment rose on all islands, except in La Gomera, where he dropped a 2%. The oldest
percentage variation occurred in La Palma, where the rise was 4,1%. By economic sectors,
Registered unemployment remained the same as the previous month in agriculture and rose slightly (less than a
1%) in industry and construction. In the service sector, the increase in registered unemployment was
