03 Feb The registered unemployment remains at the beginning of 2026
By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias Registered unemployment rose in women and fell in men, but practically remaining in figures
similar to last month. Variations by age group are also very small.. Unemployment rose
slightly in the groups up to 40 years and fell from this age.
Only in the construction sector did registered unemployment drop more noticeably, being the rate of
variación del -3,3%. Unemployment also decreased in industry and agriculture, around a 1% en
both cases. It was in the services sector where the unemployment figure increased, almost some 1.300 unemployed
more than the previous month. The group of people without previous employment fell by 6,1%. El
trade worsened by 2,5%, while in hospitality, unemployment fell by 1,4%. Por islas, the unemployment
registered fell slightly in Lanzarote, remained in Tenerife, Gran Canaria and La Palma and rose in
the rest of the islands.
