26 Apr The number of employed people in the Canary Islands increases by 1% en el primer trimestre de 2024
By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias Por sexos, employment fell in men (-0,8%) and increased in women (3%). The number of men
occupied was located in 527.600 after decreasing in 4.020, while the number of employed women was
de 468.600 after a rise of 13.830.
The number of salaried people practically remained the same, leaving the figure at 855.800,
while the group of self-employed people rose one 8,1% regarding the
previous quarter, standing at 140.400 people
The number of salaried people with a permanent contract rose by 0,4% and that of people with
temporary contract went down 2,3%. It should be noted that in 12 months there is a 10,3% more than people with
indefinite contract and a 8% fewer people with temporary contracts.
The temporary employment rate fell 0,4 percentage points remaining in the 17,8%, being for men of the
15,2% and for women of the 20,6%.
Employment increased in all economic sectors except agriculture compared to the quarter
anterior, highlighting an increase in 13,4% under construction.
The number of unemployed people decreased 14.500 people regarding the fourth quarter of 2023, siendo
the quarterly variation rate of -7,7%. The unemployment rate is at 14,9%, being that of
men a 13,5% y la de mujeres un 16,4%.
The number of households with an active member is 674.800, having the 77,9% of the same to all
your assets with employment and the 8,8% to all its unemployed assets.
