28 Jan The Canary Islands once again exceed one million employed people
By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias Por sexos, the number of employed men rose by 18.100, while in women the variation was
smaller, con 8.200 more women with jobs.
The number of salaried people rose by about 28.200 people, leaving the figure at 885.800. El
group of self-employed people fell by 1,4% compared to the previous quarter
standing in 137.900 people.
The number of salaried people with a permanent contract rose by 0,7% and that of people with
temporary contract rose a 17,4%. The temporary employment rate rose 2,1 percentage points with respect to
previous quarter, placing itself in the 17,4%. This rate increased in both men and women, con
values of 15,4% for men and 19,5% for women.
By economic sectors, Employment rose in services and fell in agriculture, construction and
industry.
The number of unemployed people decreased 29.400 and the unemployment rate remains at 11,9%. in men, la
unemployment rate is at 10,0% and in women in the 14,0%.
Four out of five households have all their members actively employed, mientras que el 5,8%
has all its active members unemployed.
