13 Nov Spending by tourists visiting the Canary Islands increases in the third quarter 2024

By Instituto Canario de Estadística, (ISTAC), del Gobierno de Canarias The average expenditure per tourist was 1485,98 euros, with an annual decrease of 0,98%. The average expense
diary that each tourist makes is located in 180,36 euros. This data is higher than that given in the
second quarter of 2023 (177,62 euros).

The main emitting countries in terms of spending level were the United Kingdom (with the 41,1% of the
total), Alemania (16,4%) and the rest of the territory of Spain (7,8%). Desde la perspectiva del destino,
Tenerife led tourist spending, con un 41,7% del total de Canarias, seguida de Gran Canaria
(23,4%), Lanzarote (18,8%) Fuerteventura (15%) y La Palma (0,9%).

Accommodation spending was the main expense item, con un 40,3% of the total expense and a
annual increase of 1,3%. The following items were the expenditure on international/national transportation
and food, con un 30,2% y un 14% of the total, respectivamente.

From Germany, The region of North Rhine-Westphalia was the one that accumulated the highest amount of spending,
con un 13,48% del total del gasto de este país. From United Kingdom, the region that contributed the most to spending
was South East England, con un 9,53% del total del gasto de este país.
