12 Aug Spending by tourists visiting the Canary Islands increases in the second quarter 2024

diary that each tourist makes is located in 171,39 euros. This data is higher than that given in the
second quarter of 2023 (155,44 euros).
The main emitting countries in terms of spending level were the United Kingdom (with the 41,1% of the
total), Alemania (16,4%) and the rest of the territory of Spain (7,8%). Desde la perspectiva del destino,
Tenerife led tourist spending with a 41,4% del total de Canarias, seguida de Gran Canaria
(24,4%), Lanzarote (18,9%) Fuerteventura (14%) y La Palma (0,8%).
Accommodation spending was the main expense item, con un 43,2% of the total expense and a
annual increase of 11,3%. The following items were transportation expenses
international/national and food, con un 27,6% y un 15,5% of the total, respectivamente. Both
items with an annual increase of 17,3%.
Micromercados
From Germany, The region of North Rhine-Westphalia was the one that accumulated the highest amount of spending,
con un 17,9% del total del gasto de este país. From United Kingdom, The region that contributed the most to spending was
South East England, con un 17,7% del total del gasto de este país.
